My husband jokingly describes me as an ‘arty’ person, which is true to a degree because as a child I always enjoyed being involved in the arts and crafts side of life. My siblings and I were encouraged, and helped, by our mum to create anything we wanted with all sorts of materials. The only time she became disgruntled was if we didn’t clear up after ourselves and left a mess on the dining room table; a habit that I just don’t seem to be able to break.
Over the years I have channelled my interest in art to the world of papier mâché, a medium that knows no bounds or has any rigid rules. I think just about anything can be created using a wire armature and pulp made out of tissue and PVA glue. My husband Harry is always amazed at some of my creations; he genuinely can’t wait to see the end project of whatever I am working on.
