About
Me Papier mâché
is something quite recent for me, but I have always enjoyed arts and crafts
from being a child. When I first
started papier mâché, the best place to look for ideas was the internet. I couldn’t find any courses locally
so I decided to make up my own rules.
Basically papier mâché has no rules, which is another reason why I
like it. I
started by using torn newspaper strips over a wire netting armature and then
evolved into using pulped paper that I prepare myself. I now use whatever method suits the
particular project that I am doing. The
most exciting project that I have done so far has to be the Big Brother heads. So many people were involved in it
and it was great to work alongside them. Danni Johnson (www.dannijohnson.co.uk)
was the artist who did the other six heads; Victoria and Rebecca Burr gave up
their spare time to start John, Nadia and Michelle; my husband Harry who did
all sorts including the painting, a bit of papier mâché, the housework, etc, Maureen
and Graham Murray and Paul Calvert who provided me with packaging materials
to transport the heads. Thank
you all very much for your help. |
